Audi Australia confirms the A6 allroad’s return in 2027 with hybrid powertrains.

Audi Australia has confirmed pricing and specifications for its fifth-generation A6 allroad quattro. The luxury wagon will return to local showrooms in the first half of 2027, priced from $127,900 plus on-road costs.

The new model offers a choice of plug-in hybrid petrol and mild-hybrid diesel powertrains. This marks the first time the allroad has been available locally with plug-in hybrid technology, reflecting Audi’s shift toward electrification.

Pricing and Powertrain Options

The A6 allroad e-hybrid quattro 270kW starts at $127,900 + ORC. The A6 allroad TDI quattro 220kW, equipped with a six-cylinder engine, is priced at $137,900 + ORC. The entry-level price is approximately $1,500 higher than the previous diesel-only model, which was discontinued in 2024. However, Audi states the new model includes around $10,000 worth of additional standard features, justifying the increase.

Design and Dimensions

The fifth-generation A6 allroad features a more distinctive design, including a wide-body look, extended wheel arches, revised bumpers, and protective body cladding. These elements enhance its rugged aesthetic while maintaining a premium appearance.

Measuring 5016mm in length, 1986mm in width, and up to 1508mm in height, the new model is 65mm longer, 84mm wider, and 6mm taller than its predecessor. Ground clearance is increased by 16mm over the previous model and by 34mm compared with the regular A6 Avant, enhancing its off-road capabilities.

Performance and Technology

The e-hybrid variant combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and a 25.9kWh battery, delivering 270kW and 500Nm of torque. It offers an electric-only range of up to 87km and supports 11kW AC charging, making it a practical choice for daily commuting.

The TDI quattro features a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine producing 220kW and 580Nm, supplemented by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This setup enhances efficiency and low-end torque, ensuring smooth performance. Both variants include a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, ensuring optimal traction and handling.

The A6 allroad’s adaptive air suspension provides 55mm of height adjustment. Offroad modes increase ride height by 15mm, with an additional 20mm lift function available at speeds up to 35km/h. The suspension lowers automatically at speeds exceeding 85km/h for improved stability and aerodynamics.

All-wheel steering comes standard, enhancing maneuverability at low speeds and stability at higher speeds. This feature allows the rear wheels to turn in the opposite direction to the fronts at lower speeds, improving agility, or in the same direction at higher speeds for better stability.

Interior and Equipment

The interior features Audi’s latest digital cockpit, including an 11.9-inch instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch OLED infotainment touchscreen, and a 10.9-inch front passenger display. These screens provide intuitive access to navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings.

Standard equipment includes Matrix LED headlights, a 16-speaker, 685-watt Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, four-zone climate control, dynamic ambient lighting, and a panoramic glass roof with adjustable transparency. The e-hybrid rides on 21-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, while the TDI receives 20-inch equivalents, further distinguishing the variants.

Front seats are upholstered in Nappa leather and offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Safety features include nine airbags, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise assist, and traffic sign recognition, ensuring full protection for occupants.

Optional packages include the $9,900 Premium package, which adds features like digital Matrix LED headlights, heated rear seats, and enhanced parking functionality, and the $500 customised contour seats package, offering upgraded upholstery and additional seat adjustments for personalized comfort.

The A6 allroad’s return coincides with a shrinking premium crossover wagon segment in Australia, as buyers increasingly favor conventional SUVs. Audi’s allroad concept, introduced in 1999, combines wagon practicality with increased ground clearance and light off-road capability, offering a unique alternative in the market.

The latest model retains this positioning while introducing electrified powertrains and expanded standard equipment.
