Yamaha NMAX E makes its debut at EICMA 2026 as the brand’s first premium electric scooter, positioning itself as a high-end alternative to its gasoline-powered MAX lineup. The model will launch in Europe next spring, though its availability in India remains unconfirmed.
The scooter blends Yamaha’s signature sporty styling with electric efficiency, featuring dual LED headlamps, compact turn signals, and an ergonomic seating posture. Two color options, Avio Blue and Platinum Silver, will be available at launch. Underseat storage can hold a full-face helmet, while a 5-inch TFT digital display provides real-time riding data, navigation, and connectivity via the Yamaha Motor On app.
Performance centers on a 7.5kW electric motor paired with a 3.5kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering a claimed 104km range under the WMTC Class 1 test cycle. Charging takes up to 5.5 hours via an 800W on-board charger, and a belt drive system ensures quiet operation while reducing maintenance needs. Three riding modes, Sport, Touring, and Eco, adjust power delivery for acceleration, balance, or efficiency.

A 50:50 weight distribution between front and rear improves handling, while 13-inch wheels with 110/70 and 130/70 tires support stability. Braking combines 245mm discs at both ends with ABS and regenerative braking. Suspension includes 33mm telescopic forks up front and twin shocks at the rear, complementing a 770mm seat height.
Yamaha’s shift toward electric mobility in the premium segment reflects broader industry trends, though the NMAX E faces competition from established players like Ather 450X, TVS iQube ST, and Bajaj Chetak in markets where it may eventually arrive. The scooter’s European launch in Spring 2027 marks Yamaha’s first dedicated electric platform for scooters, built on a new backbone chassis designed for stability and performance.
