Lamborghini’s 2027 Revuelto SV is the company’s current V-12 flagship, with more power and advanced aerodynamic and suspension technology. However, Lamborghini says it will not pursue a Nürburgring lap record with the SV.

The Revuelto SV’s press materials show the car lapping at Germany’s Hockenheimring. When asked about a potential record attempt at the Nürburgring, Lamborghini Revuelto product line director Alessandro Farmeschi said the company uses the Nürburgring for testing and chose Hockenheimring to give customers a more approachable reference point.

Hockenheimring’s 2.8-mile layout is shorter than the Nürburgring’s 12.9-mile length, making it more accessible to owners with limited track experience. The fact that Lamborghini will not attempt a ‘Ring record is unexpected, given the company’s history of setting records with cars like the Aventador SVJ and Huracán Performante.

Lamborghini claims the Revuelto SV achieved a 1 minute, 41.6 seconds lap at the Hockenheim Grand Prix circuit on August 6, calling it the “fastest lap ever recorded by a production car at the Hockenheimring.” However, this is still behind the Mercedes-AMG One‘s 1 minute, 38.6 seconds lap from 2022.

A Lamborghini spokesperson clarified that the company’s claim refers specifically to the Revuelto SV as the fastest production super sports car at Hockenheim, distinguishing it from the limited-production Mercedes-AMG One hypercar. The Revuelto SV will be more affordable and numerous than the Mercedes, which may be a more significant factor for potential buyers.

It is notable that the Revuelto SV’s performance is still impressive, despite not being the absolute fastest at Hockenheim. Alessandro Farmeschi and his team focused on making the car accessible to a wider range of drivers, rather than solely pursuing record-breaking speeds.

The decision to focus on Hockenheimring instead of the Nürburgring is a deliberate choice by Lamborghini to provide a more relatable benchmark for its customers. By doing so, they aim to make the Revuelto SV a more appealing option for those who want a high-performance car that is still usable on a daily basis.

The comparison to the Mercedes-AMG One is inevitable, given its impressive lap time at Hockenheim. However, Lamborghini’s approach with the Revuelto SV is distinct, prioritizing accessibility and usability over outright speed. This approach may resonate with buyers who value a more balanced driving experience.
