Kia unveiled its all-electric PV7 passenger and cargo vans at the IAA Transportation show in Germany, marking the second addition to its electric van lineup after the PV5. The automaker describes the platform as “PBV,” or Platform Beyond Vehicle, which allows the chassis to be scaled across various vehicle sizes. While the smaller PV5 is already available in Canada, the PV7 will launch in Korea and Europe in 2027, with other markets to follow later.
Platform and Dimensions
The PV7 measures 340 millimeters longer than the Kia EV9 three-row electric SUV and is 195 millimeters longer than the Carnival minivan. In global markets, both the PV5 and PV7 will offer mobility conversions and chassis-cab options. The platform’s flexibility suggests Kia intends to produce a wide range of vehicles from a single design, a strategy that often simplifies production lines and reduces costs over time. If the PV7 comes to our shores, the passenger version looks like it could work well as a minivan.
Depending on the market, the PV7 will be equipped with 71.5-kWh or 96.2-kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese battery packs. It will initially feature front-wheel drive, offering up to 268 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive will be available in future iterations. The larger battery is rated for over 460 kilometers in European test cycles.

Charging and Features
Unlike the smaller PV5, the PV7 supports 800-volt charging architecture. It can reach 80% charge in 20 minutes on a 350-kW DC fast charger. The vehicle also offers a second AC charging port on the opposite side to accommodate different parking positions. Both the cargo and passenger versions include Vehicle-to-Load capabilities to power external devices.
The passenger van features 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch screens, power sliding doors, and a center console that converts into a table when the vehicle is parked. The cargo van includes a heavy-load driving mode to stabilize performance when carrying heavier items. The new vans will launch in the second half of 2027, with the company planning to introduce the PV9 in 2029.
