Ubisoft has announced that players who own certain games on Xbox can now play them for free on PC. The publisher’s Ubisoft Connect platform allows players to download these titles on PC at no additional cost. This includes games such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Far Cry 6.
The full list of eligible games is substantial, featuring Immortals Fenyx Rising, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Riders Republic, Skull and Bones, The Crew 2, The Crew Motorfest, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, as well as Watch Dogs Legion.
Ubisoft’s partnership with Microsoft makes this development possible, as announced via the Xbox Wire. The rollout of this feature is progressive, meaning that PC copies of these games will be added to players’ Ubisoft Connect accounts between now and 4 August.
However, it’s worth noting that this offer does not work in the opposite direction. Players who own these games on PC cannot play them for free on Xbox.
Owned DLC will carry over from Xbox to PC without issue. However, the transfer of in-game currencies and purchased cosmetics is not guaranteed and varies by game. Players can check the ‘game properties’ tab in Ubisoft Connect to see what content will carry over for their specific title.

This news is particularly beneficial for players of The Crew Motorfest who have been playing on console but also own a gaming PC. They can now enjoy the game with potentially higher frame rates and improved graphics options.
As the gaming industry continues to evolve, developments like this one are a welcome change from the more negative news that has been prevalent in recent months, such as layoffs and studio closures.
For players looking to take advantage of this offer, it’s a good idea to check the Ubisoft Connect platform for the availability of their games and to review the specifics of what content will carry over from their Xbox versions.
Players will have access to their games on PC.
Ubisoft Connect allows for a seamless transition between Xbox and PC, making it easy for players to enjoy their games on either platform. They can now play their favorite games on PC without having to purchase them again, which is a significant advantage. The company’s decision to make this change is likely to please many gamers, especially those who own multiple platforms and want to play their games on the one that suits them best.
